Annual Banquet

More than 190 members attended Cedar Crest Young Farmers annual banquet in April, enjoying an evening of good food and great fellowship.
The Show Choir entertained Cedar Crest Young Farmer members at their annual banquet in the Spring.
Dairy and Crop awards were presented as follows:

  • Alfalfa Haylage Quality: First - Tom and Shirley Herr, second - Adam and April Hain
  • Corn Silage Quality: First – Gerald and Connie Hoffer, second - Adam and April Hain
  • Alfalfa/Grass Hay Quality: First -Glen and Linda Krall, second - Gerald and Connie Hoffer
  • Low Somatic Cell Count: First - Kevin and Allison Sellers (137,000), second - Tom and Shirley Herr (142,000)
  • Largest Herd Milk Increase: First - John and Alisha Risser (+2903 lbs.), second - Krall-View Farm (+2350 lbs.)
  • A conservation award was presented to Darren and Kristen Grumbine.

    Attendees were entertained by the High School Show Choir, with 39 talented members. Member Linda Krall, PYFA president, brought greetings from the state association.
    Cedar Crest Young Farmer members enjoyed food, fellowship and learning opportunities at their summer family picnic.
    Family Picnic
    CCYF members gathered for a family picnic in July, featuring barbecue ham.

    Del Voigt gave a 2008 crop report and answered questions, and John Moffett of Anergy Advantage Systems spoke on the availability of a new biogas manure digestion system geared for smaller dairy herds, from 100 to 300 cows.
